The GRE. The only thing more nerve-wracking than the ACT or SAT seems to be the GRE. But I have a secret for you… it will be okay, you will be fine, it is really not that bad. Study hard, study well, and knock that test out of the park. I used two books in preparation for the GRE. I have linked and reviewed them below.
I decided I needed to apply to graduate school within 6 months of the application deadline. That means I had minimal amount of preparation time for the GRE. That worked to my advantage because I had to study hard and fast – then go take the test. I did not have time to worry (very much) or over study (something I tend to do). I just had to do it. I had to buy the books, read them, take some practice tests, and then go take the real one.
I am not suggesting you do what I did. Give yourself enough time to take it and then retake it if you need to, but keep the principle the same: do not over think, over worry, or over stress about it. Study well and go take it.
5 lb. Book of GRE Practice Problems
If you buy nothing else, buy this book. Here is why I loved it: it is pages of practice problems organized by subject. This allows you to focus on your weak areas. This is a drill, this is an exercise routine for your brain. Figure out where your weak muscles are and get some reps in!
GRE Prep 2019 with 8 Practice Tests
Loved this book! (Of course I owned the 2017 version, I assume the 2019 version is just as amazing.) It has amazing test prep material and information inside, plus lots of practice exams. The best way to pass a test is to study what is on the test, the second best way is to take practice tests and look at what you are missing. This helps you take lots of practice tests! Highly recommend.
