I would highly recommend an ALEKs math course to anyone. I have been very happy with the system so far (except for that little accreditation problem), but they are accredited now, so I love it. Here are some of the basics of using ALEKs for your math course.
- ALEKS has many, many courses available. For family use they have K-12 available, but for college students, visit this page for a full listing of courses available (that are ACE accredited). http://www.aleks.com/about_aleks/ace_credit
- You need to create an account and choose the course you would like to pursue. ALEKs costs $19.95 per month or $99.95 for 6 months (which is 6 months for the price of 5). Note that you can only work on one course at a time.
- When you start your course, you will be given an assessment. This is not timed. Don’t panic or worry over it. If you don’t know the answer, push “I don’t know”. Be honest. ALEKs is trying to determine what you already know and what is review. They then plan out your work based on your assessments.
Have fun with your math!
