2019 Reading Challenge: Bucket List Books
I don’t know about you, but no matter how many books I read during the year, my “to-read” list just keeps getting longer and longer. Many of the titles on this list are new additions, but a lot of them have been on there for awhile. I have the best of intentions of getting to them, but then I get a different book as a gift or borrow one from a friend and my “to-read” book gets pushed farther back.
For 2019 I went through my list of “want to read, meant to read” titles (from books I already own or have borrowed!) and chose my top 25 for my 2019 Reading Challenge Bucket List. This list has been detailed out into my book journal. If you do not currently have a book journal, I highly recommending beginning one this year! You can check out this post where I explain why and how I keep a book journal.
Why 25?
How did I pick 25 books? What is special about this number? Nothing. 🙂 But I had to pick a number. After considering that I am in graduate school full-time, working part-time, logging clinical hours, and studying in my spare time – I decided I was not going to get a lot read this year.
I also took into account that some of the titles on my Bucket List are quite intense. For instance, “David Copperfield” and “Mere Christianity” are two of my goals. The number of books I actually read in a year is inversely related to the length and intensity of those books. Considering that I wanted to knock out some relatively thick and time consuming reads, I did not want to put too many books on my list.
I also know that I will pick-up friend recommendations, books to review for the church bookstore, and books I love to reread each year. I don’t want to make my goal list so long that I do not have any more room or time for extra additions. We shall see. What do you think? Will I hit more than 25 this year?
