The average public state college costs $5,000 – $6,000 per year. The Private college typically costs 10,000+ per year.
But what about Distance Students? What is the cost per “year” for a distance student? My freshman “year” of college is going to cost me the grand total of $584.87. (Oh yeah, and I’ll be done with a year of college work in 5 months! You’ve got to love this method!)
First a couple of notes on how I got that total:
- I did not factor in gas – as we drive to take the CLEPs
- The fee for test proctoring does vary – this will change your total
- Depending on the test materials you are using your price will change – I have included shipping in my book prices
- I did some emailing and found two friends I could borrow books from. This allowed me to save a lot of money! Keep your friends in mind.
