The third section of the College Composition CLEP is the Ability to Use Source Materials section. This was one of my favorite sections of the whole test! Ironically it was the section that needed the most learning! I didn’t know anywhere near enough information about source materials to answer these questions. However, with some practice and reading the recommended books (listed below) I am sure you will be able to fly through this section.
This part of the test makes up 25% of the total exam – with about 12 questions. You will be testing with your familiarity with basic reference and research skills – like you would use in writing a college paper. You will be tested on integrating resource material and how to use reference materials. Oh, and you will need to know about the MLA, APA, and Chicago styles of referencing.
You may also be testing on skills from the Revision and Rhetorical Analysis sections! Study hard on those skills, too!
