"Plans can change…"

"Plans can change…"

The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.  Proverbs 16:9 I pulled out my desk calendar.  It is full of paper clips, notes, pen scratches, and scribbles.  Notes of what I hoped to do, planned to do, and what I did.  Usually they’re different things.  Seasons of life is phrase we use when we talk about where we are now.  But who decides the length of a season?  Who determines when our season begins and…

Captain's Log 03.11.12

Generally Well, my family and I are fencing in our entire yard (great way to get outside), and I have been building a 5×5 solid wood pen.  Because… we are about to get 30 chickens.  They have been mailed and are arriving by USPS tomorrow at some point, hopefully.  And I am working on my bulk wheat order: collecting 5,000 lbs.  And the Film Festival: I am speaking at a homeschool group about film and technology next week.  And I…

Captain's Log 2.25.13

Hello everyone and greetings!  I usually try to do 2 Captain’s Logs a month, but sometimes I only get to do 1.  🙂 Overall This month has been pretty good.  (Other than being sick for awhile)  My family and I are putting up a fence for the 30 chickens I just bought, I am prepping for the Film Festival and the Wheat Order, movie making is starting up slowly, and I have been trying to catch up on reading and…

Captain's Log 02.11.13

Hello everyone, and welcome to the February 13th Captain’s Log!  Life is really busy right now, and school can kind of be on the back burner right now, but I’m still working! U. S. History 1 CLEP I am using my mom’s highschool textbook for study prep – along with the REA book.  Both are really helpful.  I feel really good about this test,  I need some review on court cases and treaties, I think I can get this done….

Generally Wow!  It has been such a long time since I did a Captain’s Log post!  How did that happen?  I have no idea, but I promise to do better through 2013!  Generally, I’m doing pretty well.  Focusing on gathering information on my degree, online classes, and a bunch other stuff.  In addition, life rolls on and I’m starting my bulk wheat order and Film Festival plans.  I have a lot of New Year goals I’m also working on.  My…

Generally Generally, my distance degree is going great.  I am no longer pursuing a degree in English (more on that later), so that has set me back some.  I had to change the CLEP exams I planned on taking.  At this rate I will not be a Junior before the new year (that was one of my goals), but I will be close.  I should be at 51 college credits, just 9 short of being a Junior.  My goal is…

Humanities On my last three practice tests I have scored: 66.77, and 72.  Not bad!!!  Considering.  🙂 The hardest thing about this test (for me) is the amount of names to memorize.  You need to know architects, painters, sculptors, authors, poets, composers, philosophers, dancers, singers, filmmakers, actors, actresses, and screenwriters.  See what I mean.  You also need to know their 5 most famous pieces. Unlike math, which gives you a problem to solve, this test requires you take a name…

General I am working on cleaning my room, packing away FF stuff, and dusting off school books.  I’ve always done school year round (lighter during the summer, but some school).  This is really the first time I remember putting away my books for a few months and not looking at them.   I really love pulling them back out now and getting ready to use them!  I am planning out my remaining CLEPs before I launch into course work in 2013….

Social Science CLEP: It’s hard to have to cancel a test. It’s really hard to cancel your second test because your first one isn’t up to par. But it’s hardest to fail a test.  And I don’t want to do that. I am renting the “Don’t Know Much About” series by Kenneth C. Davis from the Library.  I am using those books, my Comex guide, and the REA guide to bring my score up for Social Sciences. I want to…
